Since the beginning of the International Student Program at QUT, ISS has been
committed to the development of international student groups. Student associations
that organise activities and provide a supportive network for all newly arrived
students make a significant contribution to our services. More information on
Student associations is available on ISS Info Sheet 9 - Student
Associations. Those with websites include;
- Association of Norwegian Students Abroad (ANSA)
- Norwegian Student Club (NorSK)
- Chinese Students & Scholars Association (CSSA)
- Singaporean Students Association (SSA)
- QUT Muslim Student Association (MSA QUT)
- Campus Christian Assembly (CCA)
- QUT Christians
- Malaysian Students Association (MYSA)
National Liaison Committee
The National Liaison Committee (NLC) is the peak representative body for international
students in Australia. It was founded in 1986 in response to the growing need
among international students for a unified voice. Through lobbying, networking
and campaigns, NLC advocates the rights of international students on a state
and national level. Some examples of previous campaigns include: reducing fees
for student visas, Medibank Private health cover, and ensuring quality education
in ELICOS courses. The NLC maintains communication with international students
and institutions through orientation activities, campus visits and liaison,
conferences, and NLC Link, a regular newsletter available at ISS. The QUT representative
for NLC is Ann Fen Lim.
