The health care system in Australia initially may appear quite complex. As an international student you are required by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) to have medical insurance at all times while on a student visa. The facilities and services you have access to will depend on the health insurance provider you choose for your Overseas Students Health Cover (OSHC). Rest assured that there are excellent medical facilities in all areas of Brisbane and health services available on all QUT Campuses. For more details read Info Sheet 5 Health & Medical. All international students and their families (on 'dependent' visa) are required to maintain their health insurance while studying in Australia. This is done through the Overseas Students Health Cover (OSHC) scheme. QUT's preferred OSHC provider is Medibank Private - www.medibank.com.au/oshc If you are with Medibank Private you can go online and order your membership card and have it sent to your Australian address. It is very easily done via the Medibank website and the Students toolbar “Order a Membership Card”. Previous students with Worldcare Assist cover will continue to be serviced by Worldcare Assist. For more details please visit: www.oshcworldcare.com.au Representatives from Medibank Private and Worldcare Assist can be found on-campus at the following times & places;
