ISS runs a Graduating Students workshop for international students completing their studies this semester and are preparing for what to do next. The workshop is for students returning home and for those considering remaining in Australia.

Graduating Students workshop (including a celebration lunch)

Date: Tuesay 30 September
Time: 9:30am - 3:30pm
Venue: Z303, Gardens Point 

The program of this workshop includes:

  • Adjusting to life at home – find out how you can best prepare yourself to go home and hear a former student give you some tips.
  • Checklist of things to do – necessary things to do before you leave Brisbane
  • Career and Employment – Tips on writing your resume, interview skills, etc. Learn how to be the most employable person
  • Visa advice - short term advice for students staying on for graduation and short holidays after studies
  • Alumni – Keep in touch with QUT’s community
  • Morning Tea – light refreshments provided
  • Graduation and Ceremonies – Give out information like when are ceremonies held? How you will receive your graduation ticket, and what you should wear to your graduation.
  • Packing up to go home – what’s the best way to pack your belongings safely and send them home at an affordable rate?

Participants of the workshop are then invited to a Celebration Lunch, which is an ideal chance to mingle with other students returning home and connect with people involved in the workshop.

Migration advice seminar

This information session is specifically for those considering applying for permanent residency under the Skilled - Independent Overseas Students (subclass 880) category. The seminar is optional and will be held at

All international students expecting to complete this semester are also invited to attend the International Students' Farewell. Its a chance to hire the academic gown and celebrate your achievements before you leave..
