A set weekly/ fortnightly/ semester fee is charged for either a single room or twin share (two people per room). Smaller hostels may have only nine people in one house; larger hostels may have more than 30 in one building. Some hostels cater for female or male students only, while others offer a mixed living environment.

All hostels have a communal bathroom, kitchen, dining room, and a living room shared by all residents. It is usual for meals to be provided, but some hostels allow you to do your own cooking.

Prices vary from $180 to $200 per week if meals are provided, and become cheaper for longer terms. Hostels that do not provide meals charge about $110 per week for a single room. It is unusual for two students to share the one room.

QUT students can apply for a place in a residential college at the University of Queensland, or Griffith Univeristy. The cost of residential college accommodation ranges from $200 - $350 per week.

Full Board

People listed as providing full board have not been inspected by the homestay coordinator. Arrangements are informal and normally do not involve contracts.
