As a tenant in a house or unit, there are certain laws that apply to you. It
is important that before you sign a lease or any other documentation, you are
aware of your rights and responsibilities as a tenant. Some of these responsibilities
include:
- Keeping the place clean
- Keeping the terms of the tenancy agreement
- Reporting any damage to the property to the lessor/ agent
- Not using the place for any illegal purposes
- Not intentionally, maliciously, or negligently damaging the place
- Being responsible for their guests' behavior
- Paying the rent on time and in the way outlined in the tenancy agreement.
