Cleaning the Place
Before you move out, you should clean the property carefully. Clean the windows,
walls and floors. If the place is furnished, make sure you clean the furniture
and leave it behind. You might need to get the carpets shampooed if you've stained
them (otherwise the landlord may take the money to do it out of your bond) -
check your lease.
Electricity, Gas and Telephone
When you move out, you should have the electricity, gas and telephone disconnected.
Phone these places and tell them you are moving. They will send you a final
bill (they will take the amount you paid as a deposit off the amount of this
bill, or you might get a refund if the bill is less than the deposit you paid).
If you already have a new place to live, you might be able to transfer your
accounts to your new address. Ask if you can do this when you phone to say you
are moving.
