There are normally plenty of things to do when you first arrive, so we've included an Orientation Checklist to help you along;

  • Get your ID card
  • Activate your QUT access & email account
  • Attend your compulsory orientation eg. Degree, Study Abroad, BGSB, QUTIC, etc..
  • Submit your enrolment online
  • Find your timetable on QUT Virtual (QV)
  • Allocate yourself into any tutorials through your personal profile on QV
  • Attend Computing@QUT session and Study Skills seminars
  • Notify QUT of your permanent address in Brisbane through QUT Virtual
  • Check out the optional sessions and free activities offered during O Week
  • Set up a bank account in Brisbane
  • Keep all documentation in a safe place (eg copy of passport, Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) registration, rental lease etc)
  • Apply for a tax file number (TFN) with the Australian Taxation Office
  • Don't forget to give your TFN to your bank
  • Registered with your health fund to activate your Overseas Student Health Cover
  • If you want to work part-time, apply for permission to work from Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC). You can ONLY do this once lectures start.
  • Join the Welcome Party & Orientation trips offered every semester
